First Lesson- When & Where

Hey GUYS!

First lesson will be this Thursday at 5:00 P.M (changed! make sure you note that it is not at 5:30 anymore.). Just like in December, the meeting place will be at the Student Building. GUYS ONLY!

What to bring:
  • Your Bible
  • Some paper for notes
  • Pen(s) or pencil(s)
  • A folder to keep notes and handouts in

You also may want to have some money in case we decide to go out to eat somewhere afterwards. It seems to be tradition that we go somewhere and grab a bite to eat while we discuss a wide variety of things.

Also, if you want to kiss up to the teacher, don't bring an apple...bring a dry erase marker. (Sorry Derek, just had to throw that out there!)

One last thing...if your concerned about missing the lesson, don't be. Podcasting will be up and running for Thursday's lesson. Please note that it may be a few days before the audio file is uploaded. Pictures/Diagrams or video that Derek brings in will be available via this blog. We will also be posting pictures of the handouts that are given out. For those of you who would like digital copies (in other words, the Word Documents), we can send those to you via email. Just send an email to hungrybiblestudy@live.com to get added to the list of those who will receive digital copies of the handouts.

Oh, wondering why we call it Hungry? Well already some people think its to retaliate against the girls...well its not. To prove that, we back it up with the Bible. 2 verses...

Psalm 119:103 "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"

Ezekiel 3:3 "Then he said to me, "Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it." So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. "

While we are not going to physically eat the Bible (even though guys will eat anything), we do want to have a hunger for God's Word. We should think that God's Word is the most delicious thing we have tasted in our spiritual lives. Because of how sweet His Word is, we want more. We want to have an addicition, a sweet tooth, for God's Word. We want to hunger for it because we know that the Word that God has given us is what will "fill [our] stomach[s]" spiritually. The Bible shows that God is the only true fulfillment that we can have. We want to have a spiritual hunger for God. We won't come close to being full without Him. We want to hunger for God. He is the only thing that matters.

Keep checking back as we update this blog.

Hungry Bible Study: Site Launch

Hungry Bible Study: Web-blog Lauch!

This summer, Derek Matthews will be leading a Guys Bible Study. Sorry ladies, but this is for guys only. By general consensus, the Bible Study will be called Hungry. Name dosn't really matter. But hey, its fun to make logos and tell the girls they can be thirsty but they can't be hungry.

Over the summer, Derek will be leading us through Genesis. All guys are welcome to come. More info to come as to when the first study will be and where it will be held.

The hope is to have the study podcasted and blogged. This blog site will hopefully have pictures of any drawings used (or video since Derek is very fond of his whiteboard), a link to the audio for each study, and other helpful tools. Please check back often. To stay updated, it is suggested you subscribe to the RSS feed located on the right hand toolbar. Also, once the study begins, we will submit the recorded podcasts to itunes, where you will be able to subscribe to the podcast and recieve updates via your itunes subscription. You can use that tool to also stay updated and current with the study. More information to come on this later. We will let you know when the itunes podcast has been established.

An email has been set up for this Bible Study. hungrybiblestudy@live.com ... if you would like to recieve email updates, please send an email to that address. Derek will be setting up a facebook group sometime in the future for those of you who are interested in this Bible Study.

If you want to get a jump start on the study, Derek suggests that you begin to read Genesis.

More updates are to come.
